Tiffany Trenda reedited the music video ìExpress Yourselfî by extracting all of the imagery of Madonna. The final edit was projected onto a screen. Trenda performed the cheography of the original video but created a different ending. During the dance routine a shot rings out and she falls to the floor of the gallery. She appeared to be dead for the rest of the gallery reception. Part of the performance was the audience participation as they filmed and photographed her. We create icons from our desires. If they show fragility, we murder them because we are interested in the process of dehumanization. We are more interested in the death of someone rather then their life.
