PLASTIC RAPE
5/2004 Gallery 4016 Los Angeles, CA
Sound Design by Joseph Bishara

What happens when the past collides with the present which changes our future?

“Plastic Rape,” is a piece about the transformation of the soul. This installation includes the following items: suspended razor, lights and scissors. The artist offers the scissors and razor to her alter ego, which is played by a performer named Blayne. Blayne shaves the hair of Trenda to signify purification. Then the artist runs behind a black tarp. The tarp is dropped and you see a 15ft video projection of a mechanical environment. In front of the projection, you see Trenda twisting and turning inside a plastic bubble.
